Beijing is a city full of rich ancient history that started roughly 5000 years ago. Having been inhabited for more than 3,000 years, the city has been the scene of invasions by warlords and foreign powers as well as devastating fires. This ‘city’ is actually an Imperial Palace that was built during the Ming Dynasty and was the permanent residence of Emperors from 1368 to 1911. The Palace is enormous and covers over 720,000 square meters of floor space. The Palace also houses 8,700 rooms, features ten meter walls and a moat. Only by visiting this site can one truly appreciate the grand scale of Forbidden City. In addition to Forbidden City, Beijing is home to a large number of magnificent temples as well as ancient military and ceremonial structures.

The city of Beijing experiences four distinct seasons throughout the year and the activities on offer for visitors can vary greatly depending on the season.
